Congratulations on this month's Client of the Month Terry Erickson!
Terry has been a lifelong Teacher, Coach, and Leader in the community. He has been involved in many leadership positions, refereeing, coaching, and teaching through numerous organizations. He also keeps the community up to date with his broadcasting of numerous local games throughout the season at 7 Rivers Sports. The La Crosse Boy's and Girl's Club has named their building, the Terry Erickson Center in recognition of what he has done for the youth of our community.
Just over a year ago, Terry suffered a life-changing stroke. For someone who has been fit and athletic his whole life, this came as a big setback to him and his family. Not one to give up, Terry set out on a quest to regain his former strength, motor, and speaking abilities.
That's when Terry discovered Northstar.
One of the huge benefits of Resistance Training - for any age - is the development and redevelopment of neurocognitive pathways. It is also key in reducing inflammation that impairs one's ability to think and do.
Grip strength is a key indicator of overall health, and his grip strength on the side impacted by the stroke has seen 150% improvement. He functional strength has improved significantly in all areas, and he is rebuilding the stamina he has always had.
A long time teacher and coach, Terry embraces the core value to strive to improve, Terry has even gone back to school in his later years to get a masters. He has an impressive resume in his professional life, and is a standout leader in numerous organizations and events in the community. Terry became a student again when joining Northstar, and one of the biggest observations was not just the physical gains, but the improvement in his mental game and relating his efforts for performance back to a deeper purpose.
Terry and his wife Sue, both longtime teachers, also dedicate their time keeping up with their 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
Terry says, “I love running, walking, hiking, biking, attending games which my grandchildren play, reading, and broadcasting local sports teams”. Terry feels we’ve helped him with the most is developing confidence in himself especially after the stroke, improving his strength, stamina, balance, and endurance. He especially enjoys meeting people at the studio, and being a long time coach, extends a warm greeting to everyone he sees.
We look forward to Terry’s continued journey. We are honored to help give back to Terry, someone who’s done so much for the youth in our community.
Congratulations, Terry!!
